No good news for Mr. Chase today. The ERG showed almost no response from the retinas and even on the one that did respond a little, it wasn't nearly enough to think that he'd regain any functional vision through surgery.
So... no cataract surgery for the Chase dog. My checking account is about the only thing that's happy about this, and I'm especially bummed because I'm looking at two-story houses when I finally sell this place, and I was hoping to not have to put me or him through the anxiety involved in "mapping" a new house.
Now my goal is to find somewhere that I can go swimming with him, since he won't swim by himself now that he can't see (and swimming is the best exercise for him since he's got a little arthritis now). I'd try swimming him in tandem with one of the other boys, but Drummer would drag him all over the place and I don't even know if Thunder swims. The neighborhood pond where I have permission to swim the dogs is clearly marked for no swimming by humans (nor would I set foot in it anyway... ewww), so now I need somewhere w/ reasonably clear water, deep enough for Chase to swim and shallow enough for me to wade. Anybody know any creeks around Indy that would fit the bill?
