I'm home from a weekend at DivaDrum, the 10th anniversary of the fall Women's Drumming Weekends run by my friend and bandmate Sally (who is not on LJ). This was a big event... over double the size of the normal weekend events and run festival-style with multiple simultaneous tracks of programming. I was supposed to teach beginners, but had to call for help at the last minute as I was sick and was unsure whether I'd be able to talk for any length of time without coughing. Wendy and Jamie did an excellent job of pinch-hitting for me (I knew they would... Wendy and I've been trading off beginner classes for the last couple of years and Jamie had started helping out in the spring) and I got to do what speaking I could and then toss it over to them.
I've skimmed back through LJ so I'm more-or-less caught up, and I've read email. I've still got a truckload of drums and other things to unpack, but they're okay outside 'til morning 'cause I've got all the structural integrity of wet spaghetti at the moment and trying to pick up anything heavier than my own feet is just more work than I can contemplate. I'm off to bed with my very clingy dogs and cats (who all adore the petsitter but who also love to guilt-trip mom for having the audacity to go away).
More of an update tomorrow... it was an absolutely awesome weekend! But first, I must sleep!
