I've done what feels like 80 loads of laundry, but still haven't found the boxes containing my coat hangers, so the new house is full of stacks of clean clothes that I can't put away. Ugh.
nycgadgetgirl got here on Monday, and we've been spending time (a) catching up and (b) shopping for things that one or both of us needed for the new house. One of tonight's purchases was a five-arm floor lamp for the basement, since this house is completely lacking in any built-in lighting (except in the kitchen and bathrooms). I was going to try to be green and responsible and all that crap, so I got it five 60-watt "daylight" compact fluorescent bulbs. Whoever labelled these as "daylight" obviously didn't _measure_ the color temperature, because they're hideous. *sigh* $15 wasted on bulbs that I won't use more than a day or two 'til I can go replace them with incandescents that won't completely ruin the color scheme of this room. So much for that experiment! I love my new paint and furniture colors down here, but I don't love what that harsh fluorescent light does to them!
I still feel like I may never be done unpacking. I was going to do a bunch of that this weekend, but between spending most of today shopping (and seeing Dark Knight, which was fabulous!), and needing to spend a chunk of tomorrow mowing, I'm not sure how many more boxes are going to get unpacked. At a minimum, I have to consolidate the stuff in the open boxes that are in T's room, 'cause she gets here on Wednesday and Jenna needs to be able to actually get her room ready, which would be easier if it wasn't full of my stuff. So that'll be tomorrow's focus, which will lead to relatively useless things like setting up the bedroom entertainment center, which won't get used because my bedroom's still a construction zone. *rolls eyes* Oh well... at least some of that stuff will be out of the way, and in the general vicinity of where it's final "landing spot" should be.
And now I'm off to bed... at least that's the plan. Of course, Drummer's plan is to continue having me play fetch with him, which could be counter-productive for sleeping. :-)

I just got mugged by my trashcan.
It's WayWindy outside, and the wind had knocked the big green trashbin over. I picked it up, flipped its lid closed, and started to wheel it back where it belonged and the wind flipped the lid open, smacking me in the face.
Ow.
I think I'm going to have a bruise on my forehead, but at least I may avoid having a black eye.

Lazy weekend here... catching up on stuff that the DVR recorded while I was off on the west coast for 16 days.
Finally broke down and got a Twitter account, after sitting at a table one night after MacWorld with a bunch of folks who were twittering incessantly on their iPhones. Dunno how much I'll use it, without easy access via smartphone (and I'm still refusing to get an iPhone because I have a healthy dislike of AT&T), but I've got Twitterific installed on the laptop so I can at least watch and see when interesting conversations go by. Same username as here, but I haven't actually posted anything yet, so it's not like there's really anything to see.

When I got home from work yesterday, home for long enough to feed and walk the dogs and then head out to rehearse for Sunday's gig, I had a "WTF?" moment when I found the left-hand main speaker lying on its side on the floor.
Its pedestal was upright, but the speaker, which is large and weighs about 35 pounds, was down. I picked it up (that was fun with the bad shoulder) and put it back on the pedestal, checked to see if any of the cats looked guilty (as if!), and headed to practice. Didn't really think about the speaker again.
A few minutes ago, I turned on the TV and found that all the sound was coming from the right and the center. Oops... that's not good.
Glared at the cats again while getting up to go check it out, all the while crossing my fingers that it was nothing serious. I like these speakers... a lot... they've been with me for close to 13 years now, and honestly I still haven't heard anything that I like substantially better (Paradigm Export Monitors).
Peered behind the speaker... didn't see anything that looked wrong at a glance.
Turned on the hall light and tilted the speaker a bit. Oh, lookie! One of the connectors pulled loose slightly (45-degree pin type). Snugged it back into place and voilà... balanced sound!
Life is good. :-)

My house smells like chili.
If there's one real hazard of using a crock pot, it's that the house smells like chili for hours and hours before the chili's actually ready to eat. The smell has made me hungry, but it's not done yet. Argh!
I think I'll walk the dogs and go to bed, before my stomach convinces me that I must eat something.

It's unwise to put more into a trash bag than you are currently capable of lifting into the big green wheelie bin.
Oops.
Note to self... buy smaller trash bags tomorrow. While it's satisfying to fill the big lawn-and-leaf bags, smaller really is sometimes better.

Well, I didn't do everything that I'd hoped to do this weekend, but I still got a lot done!
Friday afternoon... mostly lazy, plus a load of dog laundry and a sink full of dishes (I have a dishwasher, but my water softener's on the fritz so the dishwasher leaves major spots)
Saturday... read some, caught up on some TV, caught up on sleep, picked up cat food before the pet food shop closed for the weekend, did more dishes, did a load of my laundry, took in a baseball game and fireworks with Sally.
Sunday... did a bunch of Wild Mercy "paperwork" and another load of laundry, then went to a recording session with
min0taur and
harperjen to lay down some more harmony vocals for "Dream of a Far Light".
Today... another load of dog laundry (a couple of towels that I missed the first time), hand-washed and dried the Beetle, RainXed all of its windows (and boy is my shoulder sore now!), went back and recorded a few more tracks w/ Barry, read some more, watched one of the best tennis matches I've seen in years (Tommy Haas beating James Blake in a tie-breaker to go to the US Open men's quarter-finals... absolutely amazing match), scrubbed the kitchen countertops and mopped the floor.
I'm determined to do at least one more load of laundry before bedtime, and I'm going to collect all the glassware that collects all over the house and do another sink of dishes so that everything's back in the cabinets where it belongs.
All-in-all, an excellent mix of fun stuff and productivity. :-)

We got a half-day early release at work today, and Monday is Labor Day, so I'm looking at three and a half days for a combination of fun, laziness and catching up on chores.
On the chores side, my goal is to get all the laundry done (mine and the dogs'), thoroughly clean the kitchen and master bathroom, process the stack of mail/catalogs/etc. that's piled up on the coffee table, and wash the Beetle and the Trooper and redo the RainX on the Beetle's windows.
For fun, Sally and I have tickets to the Indians game on Saturday evening (2nd row of the 2nd level, behind home plate). They're playing the Louisville Bats, who get my bet for best team logo (it's a bat of the flying variety... not the slugging variety). The Bats won 4-2 in tonight's game, which hopefully means the Indians will be rarin' to redeem themselves tomorrow night. Best of all... post-game fireworks! :-) Victory Field is a beautiful ballpark... some say one of the best in the country, and certainly one of the nicest in the minor leagues... and it looks like we're going to have _perfect_ baseball weather tomorrow. It's supposed to be 80, sunny, and a low 30% humidity at start time, dropping to 73 (45% humidity) by 9 p.m. Sweet!
Scattered throughout the weekend are potential recording sessions, so we can get the last of the vocal tracks laid down for "Dream of a Far Light". Guess that means I can't yell _too_ much at the ballgame, eh?
To make my weekend even better, I stopped at GT South's after work and picked up a nice tray of pulled pork barbecue. Yum. I've been wanting GT South's for a couple of weeks, and I keep forgetting to go until Sunday and they're closed on Sundays. So I took advantage of the early release from work and went and stocked up for the weekend. IMO, they're the only place in Indy who really understands southern pit-style barbecue. Their meat is moist, smoky, and completely free of fat and other icky bits. I am a happy carnivore. :-)

I feel like I haven't left the house, or practically the sofa, for the entire weekend, but looking around, I realize that I really did get a lot accomplished.
* Finished updating the WomenDrum 10th Anniversary website
* Did three loads of laundry... two for me and one "dog-laundry" (dog beds and towels)
* Groomed all three dogs and as many of the cats as I could catch
* Vacuumed
* Waited for the fur from all the grooming to settle
* Vacuumed some more
* Spot-cleaned carpet with steam cleaner
* Cleaned kitchen, except for the sink full of dishes that I'm going to wash after I post this
* Did grocery shopping, so there's actual food in the house and I have no excuse to continue living on take-out
* Gathered up trash and took it out for tomorrow's trash pickup
Wow... I felt like the whole weekend got eaten by the website, but apparently my breaks to get up and stretch let me accomplish more than I realized!
So how was your weekend?

I've found a good motivator for cleaning my house... I turned on Clean House on the Style channel.
Oh... my... god... I know I have clutter, but some of these people have absolutely _insane_ levels of clutter.
Feeling an intense desire to not have my house look even the slightest bit like those houses, I'm discovering that having their "Do you _really_ use this?? Is it worth the space it's taking up?" patter running the background is good motivation for me to do some sorting and cleaning of my own.
So now I have a big box started of things to go to the next UUI yard sale, a corner in the garage devoted to stuff for the yard sale that won't fit in the box, and the next project is the closet.
My goal, from now 'til the time we close on the neighborhood, is to get rid of at least one big bag (like, lawn-and-leaf-sized bag) of Stuff every week so I don't have to pack it and move it. At the same time, I'm continuing to pack some things that I want to keep but don't necessarily need in the next six months (books, books and more books) so that some of the packing is done, clearing the way for more organizing and decluttering.
Whee...
I think I'll get out of the house for awhile... it's sunny outside and I'm gonna go play in the driveway (translated: I'm going to wash the Beetle).

Yay! I'm safely home from OVFF and the Trooper got me there and back without any problems. Apparently its only remaining issue really is just a problem with the oil pressure gauge rather than a problem with the engine.
More about OVFF tomorrow... first, I must go to the gym, go see the Indigo Girls, and write my department's quarterly objectives summary before 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. Oy. Talk about your basic return to reality...
