For those of you who've followed the saga of the house... I got my 60-day "intent to close" letter from the developer today!
It's not a contract, so things could still change, but so far this developer has negotiated in very good faith, and they've been saying that they wouldn't issue the letters of intent until they were really darn sure that the deal was going to go through.
So with luck, I'll be closing on the sale of the current house on June 16th and I'll have 30 days to move. In a perfect world, I'll close on the house in Anderson on the 17th, hand the keys to the flooring contractors, and move in as soon as the flooring guys have ripped out all the current floors and replaced them. (All the rest of the stuff can be done after I move in, but it's just soooooo much easier to do floors before all the furniture and appliances are there!)
Now, to go make an offer on the house on the river... Wish me luck!
(For those of you who haven't followed the house saga, we started working with a developer in the fall of '05, I lost my shot at the first house I'd made an offer on when that developer backed out in May '06, and it's been a steady string of developers, meetings w/ neighbors, meetings w/ the city council, extensions, extensions and more extensions every since. Now we're finally getting light at the end of the tunnel.)

Date: 2008-04-18 04:32 am (UTC)It's still listed, so now I just have to convince the bank (it's bank-owned) to accept the offer with the long contingency period. Hopefully they will... it's a sucky market, and the house is out in the middle of nowhere, and with gas crawling towards $4/gallon nobody (other than me) wants to drive that far!

Date: 2008-04-18 04:37 am (UTC)I emailed my agent to let her know that I want to make the offer and what my terms are, and told her that if the bank's agent gives us any grief about "the bank won't accept " this time, then I want that answer in writing _from the bank_ so that I know that he's shown the offer to them rather than just blowing it off on his own.
So now I wait... (and I'm _so_ not good at waiting!)
