one step forwards, two steps back...

I swear I feel like I'm moving backwards. I know I'm actually making progress, but boy the list of things that need to be done just keeps growing! Thankfully, I accomplished some things today that hadn't been on my original list for the weekend, so that helped me feel more productive!

From my to-do list yesterday afternoon, this is how things stand...

Done

• Finalized paint colors for both upstairs bedrooms


• Picked up paint for all of the upstairs at Menard's (So annoyed at Menard's. Nothing in their sale circular said that this deal only applied to five gallons of paint. Nothing in the paint department said that it only applied to five gallons of paint. Only after I got to the front and got the rebate slip did I find that the "sale" only applies to five out of my 14 gallons of paint. Screw Menard's... Lowe's and Home Depot are getting all the rest of my business.)


• Arranged to have lawn tractor serviced... it's being picked up on Tuesday... dunno yet what they'll charge me to take it to the new house instead of back here.


• Took garden tools and gloves to new house (and weeded the iris bed beside the driveway)


• Got some packing done... two more big boxes into the Packrat, and another box of dishes, the box of framed art, a box of candles and assorted other decorations, and the box of Christmas decorations all delivered up to the new house and stowed in the garage.

Remaining

• Paint colors for downstairs bedroom, bath and den (I'm closer on this... I've narrowed it down to a fistful of swatches, which I will narrow some more this evening and then finalize at Lowe's tomorrow when I can hold swatches up to tile and see how they go together)


• Tile selected for downstairs bath (tentatively done)


• Pick light fixtures for downstairs bath


• Flooring selected for downstairs bedroom


• Arrange to move firepit boulders


• Pack... a lot... dear gods I have a lot of Stuff


• Drop push mower off for a tuneup and blade sharpening

Additional Things Accomplished

• Mowed most of the yard at the old house


• Got and assembled/installed a test pack of solar path lights, to see if they're bright enough to be useful... they're certainly easier than dealing with the low-voltage ones!


• Made a huge list of things to get at Lowe's while using my 10% off entire order coupon


• Fixed front door at old house, since it decided not to latch or lock today.


• Remembered to pick up cat food so the cats don't decide to eat me for dinner.


• Internet access configured and tested at new house

Additional Things Added to To-Do List

• Take the Big Scary List to Lowe's in the morning and get everything ordered/bought and delivery scheduled


• Finish mowing yard tomorrow, then touch up on lower height on Monday (I could have used a hay bailer today!), 'cause this is the last time I'll mow at this house!


• Call Dish and arrange for satellite service to be set up at the new house


• Tomorrow is plant-moving day! A friend is coming to prune and dig up my roses and any other plants that I want to take with me, then we're going to the new house to figure out where they'll all live!


• Try to remember to take laptop power cord to new house, and stay 'til after dark tomorrow to see how the new path lights work

Note to self: Remember to go to bed at a decent hour. Set the clock. Don't ignore it when it goes off.
