The Indians lost 3-1, but I didn't really care... it was an absolutely gorgeous night to be at the ballpark. Perfect weather, and we were facing east so the setting sun didn't bother us (a couple of outfielders made a couple of nice snags of high pop flies against that sun... nice positioning for the fans... sucks for the outfielders!).
Having not followed the Indians, I found myself being completely agnostic... I cheered the good plays, no matter which team made them. :-) Sally went looking for ice cream around the top of the 8th and ended up missing the prettiest play of the night. With the bases loaded and one out, the Bats batter hit a drive just a bit inside the third base line. The third baseman snagged the ball and threw it home, then the catcher made a nice throw to first to turn the double-play and end the Bats' at-bat. It was one of those plays that makes it look easy... each of the throwers took their time, made sure their throw went right where it needed to be, and the ball still got to first base comfortably ahead of the runner. I commented to the guy next to me that that was one of the best plays of the night, and sure enough, at the end of the game, it _was_ picked as the best play of the night, so Sally got to see it on the replay, at least.
The fireworks after the game were great. This was a "Sky Concert" and the fireworks were supposed to be synchronized to the music, but whoever had picked the music did a really craptacular job. Way too much chatter between songs, and none of the songs flowed well into the next. I mostly just tuned out the music and listened to the kabooms and enjoyed the visuals... this was the last home game and also the end of Ribfest, so the parks went all out on the pyrotechnics. The grand finale was set to the theme from Star Wars, and was one of the only pieces where the visuals and the music seemed to line up, but by that point they had so much going off that it pretty much _had_ to coincide with the music occasionally.
I'd forgotten how much fun an evening at the ball park could be. Now I'll definitely put that on next summer's calendar!
