Kaos, dog-friend of my sister
nycgadgetgirl and niece T, made it out of Miami Dade Animal Services this weekend, over to a local vet for a brief stay, then on to her temporary foster home in Orlando. This all came together when
ambersaigh over at
driveforlife put
nycgadgetgirl in contact with the good folks over at OTRA, who helped provide the on-sight folks in Miami and between Miami and Orlando to get the transports put together.
According to her transporters and her foster mom, she's a real sweetheart, and is settling right in to the joy which is Living Indoors. So now she needs a permanent place to hang her leash. One of Kaos' benefactors has volunteered to pay the cost of shipping her from Orlando to a permanent home, so transport shouldn't be a problem (other than waiting for the weather to accommodate canine air travel). She's got an upper respiratory infection right now, but has been back to the vet for antibiotics (and she's current on all shots, and spayed) and just looking for somebody to love.
Can you give Kaos a home?

And no trouble seeing Kaos if she landed there - I'm talking about my son's best friend's family! Gee, I might even see you myself....:)

She is doing great! Her cough is getting a little better, she did not cough much last night but when she gets excited I notice she coughs more.
As far as adjusting... WOW what an awesome dog! Housebroken for sure. When she needs to go out you know it , she jumps on you and looks for the leash. She has not had an accident yet.
Truly a friendly affectionate loving dog. Someone will be very happy when they adopt her. Also she is not a chronic barker either. She is protective too, I made believe I was getting hurt in another room and she came flying in to see what was happening. Terrific dog I swear!

Date: 2007-02-22 03:11 am (UTC)Would she be an indoor dog? (I only ask because I've known people with acreage who thought it was safe to let the dog be outside loose (playing with the kids, etc.)... then the dog wanders farther than expected and still winds up on the road. :-( Plus, Kaos has pretty much been a city dog and attached (by leash) to Benedict for her entire life... I'm not sure how directionally/locationally savvy she'd be with all that space! I know you wouldn't suggest them if you didn't think they'd be good dog-parents... I'm just leery on that one point (I'd ask that question of anybody!).
I can say that if they're really interested, we could probably work out a "fail-safe"... if for some reason she didn't work out with the kids, she'd be close enough to come live with me 'til we could find a new permanent home.

Date: 2007-02-22 03:18 am (UTC)I hope he's safe, wherever he is, and that we'll eventually find out what's happening with him. And, if/when he resurfaces, I hope that he can be happy that Kaos was saved, even if she has another family by then, rather than being angry that she's gone. <sigh>

Date: 2007-02-22 03:02 am (UTC)Since there's a time limit on her current foster home (family members moving in with a must-be-an-only-dog dog), it's good to know that there's somebody else local who might be able to help!

Date: 2007-02-23 02:18 am (UTC)Thanks for the report! It's great to know she's doing so well... I'm _so_ glad the shelter took the step to call
Thank you so much for being willing and able to foster! I know there are always way more dogs needing homes than there are available foster homes, so I'm really glad you were able to be there for Kaos. :-)
