So... finally heard from Dr. R, but only voicemail as I was actually busy feeding Chase when she called.

She got the path report from the lab that did the bloodwork. This is my very fast (high-points) recap of the voicemail...

They're still waiting on the myasthenia test... it goes to Cornell and takes about a week. Got the path review back on the CBC. The anemia looks like a non-regenerative anemia (chronic disease, which makes sense... he's been sick since the week before Christmas). Red blood cell study shows some "broken" red blood cells, like they're hitting up against something in the blood stream. The lymphocytes all seem to be small well-differentiated lymphocytes, which could go along with an inflammatory process rather than a leukemia process (this was the best news, since the Big Scary was leukemia!).

The main thing that worries Dr. R is that some of the red blood cells look like they're passing through something that's causing them to be destructed. Unfortunately, underlying cancers can be something that can spark and start MG, and even last summer when he was having the intermittent fevers we were wondering if there was something underlying it that we weren't seeing.

She suggests doing an abdominal ultrasound, but I'm pretty sure they did one of those at Christmas (his belly fur still hasn't completely grown back in) so I need to talk to her in person and see what they want to do different this time.

In the meantime, he's been very bouncy and active today, so I'm taking that as a good sign and trying not to stress too much about the rest. He's eating well, has a good attitude, and to all outward appearances seems to be in great shape for a 14-yr-old deaf and blind Toller. I'm going to enjoy that and not sweat the rest, especially since I know he can sense when I'm stressed and it'll make him stressed.

Thanks to everybody who sent good wishes and good energy our way... I really appreciate it, and based on how bouncy (and demanding!) he's been today, I'd say he does too. :-)
