36 hrs of gatorade and crackers...

1st 24 hours involved the highest fever I can remember having as an adult (almost 103).

Now I'm just mostly discovering that a body which has spent two days having crackers and gatorade and lying in bed isn't particularly willing to just spring back into normal daily activity. "Oh hello wall... thanks so much for holding me upright... I think I'll get out of the shower and go back to bed now..."

At this point, the fever's gone and I'm mostly back to normal except for having no energy.

Things done... showered... washed hair... mostly dressed (except for shoes)... stripped bed... took dogs outside to pee.

Things needing to be done... acquire bland food which isn't crackers and gatorade... acquire catfood and litter... wash linens and remake bed... sleep more...

Tomorrow, I have to be at work at 7 a.m., because the final patch to finish (we hope) fixing our now three-day-dead server needs to be installed and tested and we have to do it early enough that we can role back to the current state of semi-brokenness if it makes things worse instead of better. Rah.

I don't get sick often (other than respiratory things, which I'm used to)... as a result, I'm really bad at it. Definitely ready to go back to something resembling normal life.

On the plus side, I did manage a straight read-through/proofing of a friend's novel. Not sure she was expecting it to be sick-day comfort reading, but it worked! :-)

Must be going around - my father-in-law is in the hospital with a similar fever. I'm very glad you're on the way back to yourself. Be gentle with yourself, ok? Don't make me drive down with chicken soup! :)

You're laughing - mission accomplished! *g*

I'm glad you skipped out of work early; you sound like you needed it.

Should we expect to see you Saturday, or do you know yet?

OTOH, it sounds like chicken soup is just about what she's ready for right now.

Bleah. Glad you're feeling better; hope the recovery continues apace.

Are you familiar with the BRAT diet? It's the bland diet we used to suggest in the ER for use by recovering tummies. It stands for Bananas-Rice-Applesauce-Toast (both the rice and the toast should be plain). It's bland, low-fat, high in simple (and easily digestible) carbs, and low residue - just what a recovering, and possibly still jumpy, tummy needs. Reintroduce fat, protein, and fiber as things settle down. (Probably the next thing after BRAT is broth, either plain or in the form of chicken-rice or chicken-noodle soup)

You have my sympathy and my empathy. A couple of years ago, I spiked a fever of 104F for two days. High fevers are brutal. They certainly teach you how much you take normal things--like being able to take a shower without falling over--for granted.

Take it easy on yourself for the next few days.
