When I got home from work yesterday, home for long enough to feed and walk the dogs and then head out to rehearse for Sunday's gig, I had a "WTF?" moment when I found the left-hand main speaker lying on its side on the floor.

Its pedestal was upright, but the speaker, which is large and weighs about 35 pounds, was down. I picked it up (that was fun with the bad shoulder) and put it back on the pedestal, checked to see if any of the cats looked guilty (as if!), and headed to practice. Didn't really think about the speaker again.

A few minutes ago, I turned on the TV and found that all the sound was coming from the right and the center. Oops... that's not good.

Glared at the cats again while getting up to go check it out, all the while crossing my fingers that it was nothing serious. I like these speakers... a lot... they've been with me for close to 13 years now, and honestly I still haven't heard anything that I like substantially better (Paradigm Export Monitors).

Peered behind the speaker... didn't see anything that looked wrong at a glance.

Turned on the hall light and tilted the speaker a bit. Oh, lookie! One of the connectors pulled loose slightly (45-degree pin type). Snugged it back into place and voilà... balanced sound!

Life is good. :-)
